Work To Find Validation Through Goals, Opportunities and Self Respect

What makes you feel confident in your own skin?

When do you feel the most empowered? Where does your validation stem from?

I am confident. I am comfortable. I am, who I am – but why is it that I still I feel the need for validation at times?

It’s pretty twisted that women today are going to men or turning to see how many likes they have on their Instagram picture for validation and confidence.

This is not the validation that we want nor is it that validation that we need.

My favorite validations are from my friend when she tells me she really liked a specific part of my article that I wrote or from my father when he tells me how proud he is that I am getting better every day at what I do.

This is the kind of validation we should look for.

Who is to define what is right or wrong?

The simple answer to this is, no one but yourself. We need to find ourselves and be comfortable in our own skin before we look for someone else for approval.

Once you approve of yourself, others will approve of you.

I write this in such confidence with my head held high but don’t let it fool you that I have rough days too.

We all have rough days. If one weren’t to have a day or moment where their head hangs low then there wouldn’t be improvement.

Improvement is something that is so important and is something that we all should strive for.

Improvement can be from getting your B+ to an A- in your statistics class or it can even be making improvements in how happy you wake up in the morning. Never let your head hang for too long, never let what is getting you down keep you there for long.

Realize what is wrong and what is going on and strive to make it better.

It’s easy to get caught up in the pressure of society today or even get caught up in this Penn State world.

At a school with 40,000 students, it’s hard; we all have our self doubts and thoughts when we are walking to class or sitting in the library but it’s important to not let that define who you are or how comfortable you are with all of you.

We put most of this pressure on ourselves, but more then anything the pressure stems from others around us.

Penn State, it’s time for us to make a change.

Let your validation come from improvements upon a goal you have set for yourself in something you want to strive to be better at.

Stop letting other people or things put a damper on your day or pull down your mood. Stand strong in your journey without attachment to others or materials.

Start small but aim big – that is the best way to get your wheels turning so that you can find yourself and feel fully comfortable in the precious skin you live in.

Nothing is impossible and if you have heard that it is; you have heard very wrong.

You are the only dictator of yourself.

Find validation within yourself. Once you do that, you are on the right path.

Strive to make a difference in your own life so that you can make a difference in someone else’s.

Let your struggles turn into your strengths.

If you relate to this – let me know.

Have a happy day,

Em

QOTD: “When I loved myself enough, I began leaving whatever wasn’t healthy. This meant people , jobs, my own beliefs and habits – anything that kept me small. My judgement called it disloyal. Now I see it as self-loving”
